Hi Shawn, I’m a Toronto based filmmaker (made wrestling with the Past some years ago) and I have this question. I’m 49 now but in my early 20s, I was on a bus leaving the Royal York subway (west end of TO)and I swear I saw your dad out front of it, possibly in a security uniform. Was he working out this way at the time? Sorry for such a trite question but I was a big fan & have always been a touch sad I didn;t get to work with him. I feel that more and more as many friends (Gene K among them)I made during the 2 years I tracked several Cdn stars have passed away. Life is far too short. At any rate, I hope to hear back and much luck with everything, John

    Hello Shawn,
I am an always will be a devout fan of your dads. I have been able to watch you a little when you have been on wrestling shows I get on TV in my area. I appriciate you having a website with info about your dad and yourself. I did some low key work for Don Owen promotions where I met your dad and worked with him back in the late 70’s early 80’s I enjoyed talking with him and hope someday to also meet you. Thanks again for this site. Lila

I was a huge fan of your father’s. I saw him every Saturday on KPTV, then in person on Thursdays at the Grand Theater in Salem, Oregon. There has been much speculation about your Dad’s 1984 departure to Toronto. A story was aired that he was forced to by US Immigration Authorities. Could you clarify the situation? Thank you! By the way you should have came to Northwest Wrestling, would have loved for you to teach Matt Borne a lesson when he became a Heal! Take care!

Your father — Stan Stasiak — was, and remains, my all-time favorite wrestler. I used to watch the WWWF shows from the 70s on TV and only recently learned they were filmed in Allentown PA (where I now live). Rest assured — your dad’s fans remember him fondly.

  9. BOB SILER says:

    Hello Mr Stasiak
I’m interested in where wrestlers from the 1800s to the 1970s lived during their
life and was wondering if you could tell me where your father used to live. I
also know someone who has many videos of Portland Wrestling, many with your dad as announcer. If you’ll
write me at my e – mail address I’ll tell you who has these DVDs. He’s a former wrestler and friend of your dad’s.
    Take care
    Bob

Shawn Sorry to hear you lost your father.I have great memories of him as a little girl. Your family lived across from us in SE Portland. I believe I played with your sister Brittany? I’d like to say Hi.

  11. Christopher Chipps says:

Hello Shawn. I remember watching your dad when I was a kid and I remember seeing an interview with him about his WWWF title defense against Bruno Sammartino, I remember seeing him talking and holding the WWWF title in his hands. It may have been a short title reign, but at least he held it. He was one of the first pro wrestlers that I saw when I started watching pro wrestling. He was always one of my favorite wrestlers, and I remember how bad I felt when I learned of his passing. I’ve never forgotten him.

Hi Shawn, I was a big fan of your father “Stan “The Man” Stasiak” and back in the 70’s remember going to see him battle The Original Sheik at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto Sometime in the 80’s I use to go to the Sherway Racquetball in Mississauga and I believe that I saw him there on many occasions. If I may ask do you know if he was a member and worked out there?

  13. Gil says:

Shawn, I had great admiration for your father’s ruthlesness in the ring. He truly left behind a wrestling legacy and may he RIP.

  14. Jeff says:

I was stationed in the US Coast Guard in NYC in 1972/1973 and we would watch the matches every week with your dad our favorite. Also saw him in MSG!
